Paul Mercs Concerts has announced that internationally acclaimed guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, CGP will bring his Living in the Light Tour to Western Canada and several major Canadian cities in spring 2027. The tour, which will span multiple provinces, offers fans the opportunity to see Emmanuel perform live, with tickets set to go on sale October 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. local time.
Tommy Emmanuel has earned recognition as "one of the best acoustic guitarists in the world," according to NPR's World Cafe. Emmanuel began his musical journey at the age of six, touring his native Australia with his family's band. His early exposure to live performance and touring shaped his career, leading him to become a highly sought-after sideman and session player as a teenager. By his early twenties, Emmanuel was performing on chart-topping hits and collaborating with notable acts such as Air Supply and Men at Work.
Inspired by guitar legend Chet Atkins, who became both a mentor and collaborator, Emmanuel transitioned to a solo career in 1979. Since then, he has released a series of acclaimed instrumental albums, earning recognition not only in Australia but also on the international stage. Emmanuel's solo work has taken him to iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall, and he has shared the stage with music luminaries including Eric Clapton and John Denver. His career highlights include winning a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement and performing for a televised audience of more than two billion viewers during the Sydney Olympics. Emmanuel's collaborations extend to a range of renowned guitarists, such as Les Paul, Mark Knopfler, Joe Walsh, Richard Thompson, Jason Isbell, and Billy Strings, showcasing his versatility and influence within the music industry.
Emmanuel's most recent album, Living In The Light, was recorded over just four days. The album is described as the most daring and rewarding collection in his extensive catalog, blending elements of pop, jazz, classical, and roots music. This new release demonstrates Emmanuel's ability to fuse genres and create a virtuosic yet intimate listening experience, further solidifying his reputation as a masterful fingerstyle guitarist.
The Living in the Light Tour will feature special guest Molly Tuttle on select dates. Tuttle, known for her innovative guitar work and songwriting, will join Emmanuel for performances in several cities, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience two acclaimed musicians on the same stage. The inclusion of Tuttle is expected to enhance the tour's appeal, providing fans with a memorable live music event that highlights the talents of both artists.
